Week One (Part One) Open 1/18

Week 1: Personal Collections

To begin thinking about the act of collecting, we will have an opportunity to critically analyze the collections belonging to those in our community. To do this, we will participate in a “See, Think, Wonder” activity.

Goal 1:
To begin thinking about what we already know
about the act of “collecting”
Goal 2:
To introduce ourselves in a new way
Goal 3:
To (re)introduce this fun inquiry activity,
so that you can do it in your our classroom/libraries.
If our profession is to remain viable in the 21^st Century,
prioritizing inquiry pedagogy is CRITICAL.

Part A: In your "comment" below to this blog post, I'd like for you to introduce yourself.  Tell us about your:

+background (educational/work experiences)

+interests

+hobbies

+something risky that you've done (please keep it about legal things)

Part B: In the same post, insert pictures of something you collect (not as a separate attachment - but embedded within the post).  Don't tell us what it is, just post pictures of it from a number of angles/perspectives. This will provide materials for us to work on the "see" part of the see, think, wonder.  

[If we were face to face, we'd put all of our representations of collections out on our desks, and we'd do a gallery walk.  We'd try to see the collections from different angles to figure out what they are and what they might represent.] 

Part C: Resist the temptation to reply to folks this first week.  Instead, just be sure you've read all the posts and seen the pictures of all collections.  

I can't wait to learn more about you - and also to "see" your personal collection. Below is my favorite "collection."
